Susan Newman is a branding designer and brand visibility designer. Since 1994, Susan Newman Design, Inc. (Branding You Better!) has built a reputation for developing award-winning, innovative, branding, book design, poster design, social media design and creative, functionally sound web solutions throughout the United States and abroad. Susan’s team designs for creative entrepreneurs, authors, small businesses, start-ups, and international corporations.

Susan Newman is a graduate of The School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration. She has a certificate in web design from the New School University in New York City.
In her early career, she worked as an art director and graphic designer for various book publishing companies in New York City including Penguin and Macmillan. She has designed hundreds of book covers in most genres. Her book design work is represented in the permanent collection of the Library of Congress in Washington, DC.
Susan founded Broadcast Louder, a webinar series for entrepreneurs and small business owners. Susan is an entrepreneur, brand visibility and visual footprint strategist on a mission to help other creatives and entrepreneurs be as skilled in developing their brand, learning to market and promote their businesses, as they are in creating and developing their products and services. She hosts and celebrates the guest speakers who join in for the “Creativity + Abundance” webinar series, and together they share the most important aspects of running a business, from branding and building the right type of website and e-commerce, to knowing how to sell and market effectively and building an active fan base in social media.
Susan has an internet radio show, “Suzy Brandtastic” Interviews and now LIVE video interview series as well at the location, Mod Cup Coffee in Jersey City Heights. The radio episodes are currently catalogued in iTunes and published as podcasts on this website. The video series airs both on this site and YouTube at Suzy Brandtastic.
Susan creates video tutorials for Demand Media Studio / eHow. 50 WordPress videos so far and 10 on YouTube. Susan should be back in production with more soon.
Susan has always been attracted to organizations and green initiatives that will help the planet. She has donated her design work to a variety of organizations, including the Hoboken 9/11 Memorial Committee, Hoboken Jubilee Center for Children, Central Avenue Special Improvement District (Jersey City Heights), Actors Shakespeare Company at New Jersey City University, Hudson Theatre Ensemble, Chameleon Theatre Company Ltd, Planet Cents, Eco Libris, Susan G. Komen for the Cure (Central and South Jersey), and Project SOAR.
Susan led a panel discussion “Brand Recognition vs Killer Content” at Internet Week NY 2012, having won the “impact” category of the Make the Stage Panel competition. In 2011 at Savor the Success’s Rock the World in NYC, she was an expert on a social media panel. She has been interviewed in print and on the radio about branding, marketing, design, Frogs Are Green and Broadcast Louder’s webinar series. She is a guest blogger for the New York Etsy Group, Circle Marketing, YourTango, and Social Buzz Club.
Speaking engagements for 2013 included: NAWBO Pittsburgh (3/22/13) and Hob’Art, a co-operative gallery (4/17/13) on “Brand Visibility and Consistency.” Panel expert at BookExpo-Javits Center (uPublishU) (6/1/13); Panel expert on 6/8/13 at Hunter College, Writers’ Conference with Bookworks; Class series begins on 6/11/13 on Brand Visibility and Consistency for the Hudson County Coalition in Hudson County, NJ. 11/9/2013 – Panelist at the 2013 Self-Publishing Book Expo in NYC.
Susan is a contributing author to the bestselling marketing book “Self-Promotion Sucks! (but it doesn’t have to) available as a pdf download or for the Kindle.
Susan founded FROGS ARE GREEN, to increase awareness about the massive worldwide amphibian decline (up to one-third of species are threatened with extinction). Because frogs are an indicator species of a healthy environment, she hopes to spread the message that healthy frogs mean a healthy planet for all. Now available is a teaching curriculum, “Frogs, Amphibians and their Threatened Environment” Discovery and Expression Through Art K-3. This is the first curriculum to put amphibian science and artistic expression together as a 6 week course. Each year Frogs Are Green hosts an international kids art contest and a photography contest open to all ages, and in the Spring showcases the best and winning entries.
Susan’s poster design work was included in the 1st digital exhibition in New York from See.Me titled, “The Story of the Creative.” This international exhibition was shown at Angel Orensanz Foundation for Contemporary Art. Susan has received numerous awards in graphic and website design from organizations and publications and continues to do so, every year, including the Art Directors Club of New York, Desi, Graphis, the Print Regional Design Annual, The Society of Illustrators, and Graphic Design USA.
